Weight empty =103 lbs, with water 280 lbs The aquarium's 1/4 inch tempered glass is encased in marine grade stainless steel surrounded by an elegant wood frame. It is designed to hang on your wall like a picture, eliminating the need to cut a hole in your wall. All electrical components operate off one plug and all electrical cords are hidden, so unsightly surge protectors, power strips and cords on the floor can't be seen. Up to 10 electrical devices can be plugged in on the hidden side panels giving the aquarium a neat, attractive look.The aquarium has two side panels that open which conceal the electrical connections to a GFI (Ground Fault Interrupter) breaker power strip. Replacing a component simply entails unplugging and removing it. Filters -------- Two biological powerhead filters with media The filtration system has 3 separate compartments which allows 3 methods of filtration. Seachem's Matrix is used for biological, Seachem's Purigem for chemical and Poly Bio Marine's Filter pad for mechanical filtration. Each filter is rated at 265 gallows per hour (GPH). You may place your aquarium anywhere, but it is wise to follow these guidelines: 1. Avoid direct sunlight. This is helpful to the overall look of the aquarium and also prevents algae blooms (green water). 2. Mount the aquarium at eye lever or lower. Recommended height is 5 1/2 feet from the floor to the top of the aquarium. This will give the aquarium a deeper three dimiensional effect. It is also easier to maintain and to feed the fish. 3. Securely anchor the aquarium to studs in the wall. Drywall anchors will NOT support the weight. It is not possible for the aquarium to fall off the wall because of our secured and bolted bracing technique. Two meticulous years were spent perfecting a secure bracing system that doesn't harm the wall in any way. The weight of the aquarium is evenly and safely distributed with the bracing system. The system is secured to the wall with 1/4 inch stainless steel alloy leg screws. Each screw has a shear strength of 300 pounds. The aquarium is secured to the bracing system with 1/2 inch 316 grade stainless steel bolts, washers and nuts. In the 7 foot model, there are 3 screws and 5 bolts on the top brace and then 5 screws and 5 bolts on the bottom brace. The weight of the 7 foot model is distributed over 5 studs. Each stud (by building code) is designed to easily handle 500 pounds. Our mounting system has been tested and found safe, even when children hang on the aquarium like a piece of playground equipment. If you don't like the location or wish to redecorate, you can move the aquarium easily. It's like taking down a painting. Just patch a few small holes with spackling and you're done, and no wall damage. ========================================== Easy maintenance Any new aquarium must go through the new tank syndrome, commonly known as the Nitrogen Cycle. The patented filtration system and tank dimensions provide the air-to-surface ratio for exceptional DO (dissolved oxygen) levels. Correct DO levels are essential for the nitrogen cycle to complete and stay balanced. 1. Biological filtration. The biological filters look after the oxidation of ammonia to nitrite and then nitrite to nitrate by nursing 2 strains of nitrifying bacteria alive. The also house a new strain of bacteria that eat nitrate and waste. The brand new revolutionary bacteria was invented, developed and patented by Seachem's Laboratory. 2. DO level The nitrifying bacteria (nitrosomes and nitrobacteria) mentioned assure the nitrogen cycle finishes and ammonia and other toxic compounds are completely eliminated. All this means is the aquarium is kept stable by natural means.
